* This document provides introduction notes for the VEE 1.1 release in the fall of 1991.
* The HP VEE family version A.00.01 provides enhancements for additional features such as: new hardware support, Kanji, plotter support, gray scale monitors, autoroute speedup, new examples, new tools and new ID language enhancements.
* Since the introduction of HP VEE in May, many press articles and editorials have reflected the excitement of the VEE environment. With the success of the Series 700 products, HP VEE has been ported to the 700 platform to provide a complete range of workstations/ controllers to meet more customer needs.
HP VEE standard features include: quick problem-solving by connecting graphical block diagrams, easy-to-use interface into C and other HP-UX languages/scripts and over 190 instrument drivers for HP-IB instruments. Besides the standard feature set, Series 700 VEE is offered at the same price as the 300/400 products!
HP VEE has been enhanced to now include support for HPGL plotters, gray scale monitors and Kanji text fields, as well as additional examples and editing performance.
HP VEE for the Series 700 offers the same feature set as the Series 300/400 with the exception of escapes to RMB/UX (HP BASIC on HP-UX) and GPIO 16-bit interface. Currently RMB/UX is not supported on the Series 700 and there is also no EISA GPIO interface available.
HP-IB instrument control is accomplished by the E2070A interface and supported by I/O software built into HP VEE. This interface may be ordered as an option on HP VEE-Test E2111A option AL5 or as a separate product E2070A. It should be pointed out that currently the 25560A high-speed HP-IB interface does not support the HP-IB command set that is needed for instrument control. The 25560A interface only supports CS80 devices and high-speed devices such as plotters.
